The Clark County Medical Examiner has identified a teen who drowned in the Columbia River near Frenchman’s Bar last week. The victim was identified as 16-year-old Anthony Tarnoski of Battle Ground.
On Wednesday (Aug. 13), the Vancouver Police Department responded to Frenchman’s Bar regarding a swimmer in distress. Initial reports indicated a 16-year-old swimmer slipped under the water just prior to the call to 9-1-1 and did not return to the surface.
The Vancouver Police Department, Clark County Fire Department and US Coast Guard responded to search for the missing swimmer. On Thursday (Aug. 14), the missing swimmer was found, deceased, by the Multnomah County Dive Team with the assistance of the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
