OBIT: Woodland resident Deborah ‘Debbie’ Adams passed away Aug. 30, 2026
Deborah “Debbie’’ Adams

Deborah “Debbie” Adams, 80, passed away on Sunday, August 30, in Woodland, Washington. Born in Columbia, South Carolina, to David F. and Elmarrine R. Bullard, she met her husband, Chuck Adams, while he was stationed at Shaw Air Force Base. They were married for 56 years.

The youngest of four siblings, Deborah had one brother of similar age (Greg) as well as a much older sister (Barbara) and brother (Stanley). Due to the age difference, she spent most of her time growing up with her brother Greg and they shared many adventures together.

Raised in a military household, as children Debbie and Greg travelled all over the United States and the world. They lived in some far-way lands, including Japan and Germany. In America, they called many places “home”—including Alaska, Alabama, Arizona, South Carolina, and Washington State.

After marrying her husband Chuck in 1967, they lived for a time in Vancouver, Washington, and their oldest son was born in 1969. They soon relocated to her home town of Columbia, South Carolina, where their youngest son was born. They then moved back to Stevenson, Washington, and lived there until 1976 when they returned to Columbia.

In 1980, Debbie graduated from the University of South Carolina with a major in English and a minor in Literature. In 1983 she and Chuck moved to Orlando, Florida, where Chuck worked as a drummer at Walt Disney World. Debbie also worked at Disney in various departments and later opened her own business as a professional writer and editor.

In the 1980s and ‘90s Debbie made a niche for herself as a top resume writer, helping literally thousands of people in their job search. She even developed her own proprietary resume format and it proved to be very successful—particularly for people in technical and specialty fields.

In 2002, Debbie and Chuck moved back to Washington State and eventually retired in Woodland where they lived with their two sons. Debbie continued writing and became a member of the Pacific Northwest Writers Association. In 2019 she published her first Christian devotional book called My God! He Is Magnificent!

Debbie is survived by her two sons, Charles, Jr. and Christopher. She was preceded in death by her husband Chuck in 2023.
