Columbia River, Camas looking for big moments at state swimming

Finals for three championship meets are Saturday in Federal Way

The Columbia River boys swimming team is looking for its best finish in program history when the Chieftains compete in Federal Way this weekend. Columbia River is sending seven swimmers who are competing in 13 individual events, and the Chieftains have entries in all three relay teams. Plus, there are four events that have the Chieftains seeded first. Josh Bottelberghe is the top seed in the 200-yard freestyle and the 100 breaststroke. Teammate Rob Mead is No. 1 in the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke.

Two of River’s relay teams also are seeded in the top three. Isaiah Ross of Washougal is the No. 2 seed in the 100 butterfly. Joe Dodd of Hockinson is seeded fourth in the fly. The WIAA’s state swimming and diving championships are Friday and Saturday at the King County Aquatic Center. All classifications have preliminary races Friday, and the finals are set for Saturday. Camas has high expectations in the Class 4A meet. The Papermakers are the top seed in 200 freestyle relay. Mark Kim is No. 2 going into the 200 freestyle and No. 3 in the 500 freestyle. Eric Wu is No. 2 in the 200 individual medley and No. 3 in the 100 butterfly. And Jaden Kim is No. 2 in the 100 butterfly. Camas leads the Clark County teams at the 4A meet with seven individuals at state. Mountain View has five individuals in the 3A meet. Evergreen’s Ilia Zablotoviskii is the fourth seed in the 100 backstroke. Here is the list of the 31 individual entries from Clark County as well as any relay teams:
