It started as a film.
It became a Broadway play.
A smash hit, in fact.
Now, a family classic is coming to Vancouver, courtesy Journey Theater.
Set in the turn-of-the century — that would be the late 1800s, early 1900s turn-of-the-century — in New York City, “Newsies” is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a band of teenaged “newsies.”
When titans of publishing raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack rallies newsies from across the city to strike against unfair conditions and fight for what’s right.
Journey Theater is thrilled to feature a cast of talented, local youth in this production to be presented at Fort Vancouver High School.
Opening night is Friday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m.
There are two shows the next day, at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m., on Nov. 7.
The show returns the following week with the same schedule: 7 p.m. on Friday Nov. 13, and 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14.
