All-star football players are playing for charity Saturday night

PORTLAND — The game is so much more than a game.

The Freedom Bowl Classic has raised more than $100,000 for Shriners charities since the game began in Clark County in 2003.

On Thursday, this year’s players got a chance to tour Portland’s Shriners Hospital for Children, to get an up-close look at the reason for playing in this game.

The Freedom Bowl Classic, which features recent graduates from Southwest Washington high school, is an all-star football game that will be played Saturday night at McKenzie Stadium.
