Ridgefield closes out season against Columbia River

Ridgefield will attempt to win its second game of the season when the Spudders play host to Columbia River Friday.

Spudders will try to down the Chieftains in Week 9 for second straight season

Special teams to offense:

Hunter Abrams returned a kickoff 25 yards to set up Ridgefield in strong position for its first touchdown. A few plays later, it was Abrams who found himself in the end zone after a 17-yard touchdown run. In the second half, it looked to me that it was Connor Lewis who had a strong return, setting up the Spudders again. Jeremy Martin had a 22-yard run to spark the drive. Abrams finished it with a 1-yard TD plunge.

What did Kim Ulman think about his team’s performance in Week 8? “We played very well at times. Just gave up too many big plays.” MVP on offense: Hunter Abrams. Besides his TDs, he rushed for more than 90 yards. MVP on defense: Linebacker Andrew Rommel. Thoughts on Week 9 vs. Columbia River: “We look to finish the season by playing our best game yet,’’ Ulman said. “Hopefully we can help break up the three-way tie for second.”

Note:

Going into Week 9, Columbia River is tied, in the loss column, with Washougal and Woodland. It is very possible all three could finish in a tie. Ridgefield, though, remembers beating Columbia River in Week 9 last year, keeping the Chieftains from sharing a league title.
