Popular mascot has a huge schedule to fill, and not just at baseball games
The ideal candidate loves baseball and people.
No need to be talkative. In fact, talking is not permitted.
And if any candidate knows how to fly, well, that will probably put that candidate at the top of the list.
The Ridgefield Raptors are looking for people to make Rally soar to new heights.
“When he comes out, people just flock to him,” said Jason Krohn, director of baseball and game day operations for the Raptors.
Yes, he did say they flock to Rally.
No apology necessary.
Rally the Raptor, the team’s mascot who sports brown and orange feathers with a yellow beak, needs someone to bring out his inner beauty.
The West Coast League baseball franchise is hoping to hire a few people to fulfill the duties of being the representative of the team for the Southwest Washington community.
“He’s been our biggest brand ambassador and our most recognizable figure,” Krohn said.
Rally goes to every home game and also visits schools, businesses, and care facilities. That is why it would be ideal for the team to find several people to make Rally come to life. It can be difficult for one person to attend every event on Rally’s chaotic calendar.
“Anybody who has a good concept of character, of who Rally is to all the people who see him,” Krohn said in describing the candidate.
Since making his debut in 2019, the mascot has always needed folks to manage the inner workings of bringing Rally to life.
“We have had several different (people) and they all have different personalities,” Krohn said. “But everybody, once they get in, they adopt his character and are animated and fun and enjoy being around people, especially kids.”
It is a job. It is a paying gig. More than bird feed, too. But Krohn said candidates should not expect to be able to retire after taking this job.
