Clark County schools both lose in state championship games Saturday
The Camas Papermakers and the King’s Way Christian Knights each finished second in the respective state high school girls soccer tournaments after advancing to state championship games Saturday.In the Class 4A tournament, Camas was defeated by Skyline 2-1 in the title game played at Sparks Stadium in Puyallup. The Papermakers had advanced to the championship game with a 2-1 victory over Central Valley on Friday. Camas finished the season with a 19-3 record.In the Class 1A tournament, King’s Way Christian lost in a shootout to LaSalle after the two teams finished regulation play in a 1-1 tie in the title game played at Shoreline Stadium in Shoreline. The Knights prevailed in a shootout on Friday, defeating Klahowya to advance to the championship game. King’s Way finished the season with a 15-2-2 record.Prairie finished fourth in the Class 3A state tournament at Sparks Stadium in Puyallup. The Falcons lost 3-1 to Holy Names Academy in Friday’s semifinals and then were beaten 3-0 by Kamiakin in Saturday’s game for third place.In the Class 2A state tournament at Shoreline Stadium, Columbia River finished third. The Chieftains lost in a shootout to Sehome in Friday’s semifinals and then defeated Burlington-Edison 1-0 in Saturday’s game for third place.In the Class 3A state volleyball tournament at the Yakima SunDome, Prairie finished sixth. The Falcons lost 3-0 to Snohomish Saturday in the game for 5th/6th place. Prairie earned its place in the trophy round with a 3-1 victory over Snohomish in an earlier game Saturday.
