On Tuesday, Let’s Go Washington (LGW) released results from the most recent poll on I-001 and I-638 that shows growing support for both initiatives. The poll was based on the ballot titles for each initiative which are linked below.
I-001 received 51% support among participants and I-638 received 56% support from respondents. Most notably, a large swath of voters remains undecided even after reading the titles. See results here.
LGW founder, Brian Heywood, issued the following statement about the results.
“Governor Ferguson, paid opposition lawyers and Hate in WA State are spending millions trying to convince the public that it’s okay to have boys in girls' sports and keep secrets from parents and yet, people aren’t buying it. Their lies, money and intimidation tactics are meant to scare voters. It’s not convincing them to vote against girls and families. Hate in WA State should be worried because their most aggressive and disgusting lies are simply making people choose to tell a pollster they’re undecided to avoid personal blowback.
“Even our most staunch opposition is too afraid to say that boys should be allowed to play in girls’ sports because they can’t defend that point and their own base doesn’t agree with it. They’re too afraid to come out and say that parents deserve less information about their students, because no one would support that. What they do is threaten, bully, intimidate and lie but even the governor from the back of his limo isn’t moving people to vote against girls and families.
“This is the moment to talk to your neighbors, share the facts, push back when you hear something that isn’t true - make sure the people around you understand what’s at stake. Vote yes to protect fairness in girls’ sports and give parents the right to know.”
