Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez should be applauded for supporting sanctions against Russia’s war in Ukraine. Attacks on civilians demand a response. But where is that resolve when victims are Palestinian?
She celebrated Southwest Washington’s Ukrainian community greeting her at PDX. But when will she stand with her Palestinian constituents whose relatives have been bombed or starved to death in Gaza? Why protect Ukrainians legislatively while funding and arming the Israeli military as it slaughters Palestinian children and other civilians?
Amnesty International, the International Association of Genocide Scholars, a United Nations commission, and Israeli organizations B’Tselem and Physicians for Human Rights Israel have concluded that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza.
Southwest Washington taxpayers are not bystanders. Gluesenkamp Perez votes to send our taxes to fund Israel’s genocidal military campaign. Meanwhile, Track AIPAC reports $513,798 in support of her campaign from pro-Israel political action committees in its August 2, 2026 accounting. These groups fund her campaign while she sends our money to fund Israel’s war.
Her commitment to civilian life in Ukraine is hollow unless she supports suspending weapons and military funding used to commit genocide in Gaza.
