One bad quarter proved to be the undoing of King’s Way Christian Wednesday as the Knights dropped a 53-50 decision to Warden at the Class 1A boys basketball tournament at the SunDome in Yakima. The loss eliminated King’s Way Christian from the tournament.
King’s Way Christian led 28-25 at halftime but the Knights were only able to score four points in the third quarter. King’s Way Christian then trailed by as much as seven points in the fourth quarter before a 3-pointer by Joe Mills closed the gap to two points at 52-50 with 19 seconds left to play in the game.
Warden’s JR Delgado made one of two free throws with 14 seconds to go to seal the win and knock King’s Way Christian out of the tournament.
Matt Garrison had 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Knights, who finished the season with a 15-12 overall record. Garrison made seven of his nine shots from the field.
Mills had 12 points and five rebounds for King’s Way Christian and Skyler Freeman added 11 points, 10 rebounds and three assists for the Knights.
