A list of every wrestler who is headed to the Tacoma Dome
It is here. The final week of the high school wrestling season.The state championships are Friday and Saturday in the Tacoma Dome.But nobody really calls it the state tournament.Nope, it goes by a much bigger name.Max Classic XXX will feature more than 60 wrestlers from Clark County.The Camas Papermakers had four boys win region championships this weekend in Pasco. Meanwhile, the Union girls team won a regional championship in Aberdeen and had three individual champions.The Union Titans won the team title at their girls regional tournament over the weekend. The Camas boys qualified a county-best seven athletes to Mat Classic. Four Papermakers won region championships: Jack Latimer (126 pounds); Rylan Thompson (132); Gideon Malychewski (160) and Samuel Malychewski (195).Union got five boys to state, including two region champs: Noah Talavera (138) and Danny Snediker (152).In 3A boys, Evergreen’s Dylan Goodpaster earned a regional title. La Center led the way with three wrestlers advancing to the dome.In all, 47 Clark County boys qualified for state, finishing in the top four at regionalsThe Clark County girls were limited to just the top three making it to state from their regional. The Titans led the way with six qualifiers, including three champions: Riley Aamold (130) Krista Warren (140); and Annabelle Helm (145).Skyview had two champions: Hikaru Abe (105) and Cece Sayler (170). Other region champs were: Ashlyn Daugherty of Woodland (100); Allison Blaine of Hudson’s Bay (135); and Maritza Chavez-Anguiano of Seton Catholic (190).

The most recent rankings by the washingtonwrestlingreport.com show it could be a very successful weekend for a number of Clark County wrestlers. Seven Class 4A boys are ranked in the top four, including three in at No. 1 in their weight classes: Latimer, Thompson, and Samuel Malychewski of Camas top the rankings.Samuel and Gideon Malychewski were two of four Papermakers to win region championships Saturday in Pasco. Photo by Paul ValenciaInterestingly, Tanner Craig of Camas is No. 2 at 132 pounds, the same weight class as Thompson. Jackson McKinney of Skyview is ranked second at 195 pounds, the same class as Samuel Malychewski.Talavera and Gideon Malychewski also are in the top four.In Class 3A, Goodpaster is ranked No. 1 at 170 pounds. No other wrestler from Clark County is ranked in the top four.The latest rankings for 4A, 3A, 1A and girls were updated Sunday after regionals. The last 2A rankings shown on the site come from before regionals. There are three 2A Clark County athletes who made it to state who were ranked in the top four: Lieurance, Lees and Jacob Flanagan of Woodland.Mike Garrison of King’s Way Christian is the lone Class 1A wrestler ranked in the top four.There are seven Clark County girls ranked in the top four, including two at the top of the list: Aamold of Union and Blaine of Hudson’s Bay. Abe and Sayler of Skyview, and Warren, Helm, and Nevaeh Cassidy of Union also are in the top four.As far as team rankings go, Union is ranked second in girls wrestling.
