No injuries reported and two dogs saved at residential fire in northeast Vancouver on Monday
A crew driving around town on one assignment quickly changed missions in order to save a family home from burning down on Monday.
The crew from Vancouver Fire Engine 11 was driving around its service area familiarizing themselves with “first due” buildings when they spotted a large column of smoke near their location just before noon Monday. They responded to a residential neighborhood and found a house on fire at 10105 NE 116th Ave.
After calling for additional resources, the crew pulled a fire attach line to the rear of the structure and began extinguishing the fire. The next closest engine arrived within five minutes to start interior fire operations, which included a search of the residence.
It turned out, none of the three residents were home at the time of the fire, and crews were able to let two dogs outside without injury.
The quick actions from one fire crew and the support of 15 additional fire personnel saved a family home.
The Clark County Fire Marshals Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
