At 1:14 a.m. Sunday (Aug. 20), Vancouver Fire Department units were dispatched to the report of a commercial building on fire at 14387 SE Mill Plain Blvd. This location was previously the home of the Mongolian Grill restaurant.
Vancouver Fire responded with nine units. A total of 26 fire department personnel were on scene at the height of the deployment. Upon arrival, initial crews found heavy smoke and fire coming from the building. The building was vacant at the time.
Vancouver fire engaged the fire quickly with multiple engine and truck companies. Within 20 minutes the fire was deemed under control. The building suffered extensive damage from the fire.
The Vancouver Fire Marshal's office is investigating the incident.
