Vancouver Fire units were dispatched at 5:23 a.m. Thursday morning (Oct. 13) to a commercial facility off Harborside Drive for a fire in a grain elevator.
Crews arrived and found a working fire in a conveyor between a grain silo on shore and a barge on the water. The incident was dynamic due to the facility and nature of the fire and was still active in the morning hours.
A second alarm was called and those resources have arrived and a fire attack plan is being executed with facility staff currently. All facility staff are accounted for.
A total of 14 units were on scene including a fire boat from Portland Fire.
