Area residents can go behind the scenes with Washington state’s third-oldest public port
VANCOUVER — Cranes, trains and grains are all part of the Port of Vancouver USA’s public tour program. Each tour comes with an education on Columbia River navigation, international trade, environmental stewardship, waterfront redevelopment and more.
The port is hosting 10 free public tours in 2020, starting in March and ending in September. Guests enjoy refreshments and a slide presentation before boarding a bus for a behind-the-scenes tour of the marine terminals and industrial centers that make the Port of Vancouver a major economic engine in Southwest Washington.

- Thu., March 19, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
- Sat., April 25, 10 a.m.-12 noon
- Tue., May 12, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
- Wed., May 27, 11:30 a.m-1:30 p.m.
- Thu., June 11, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
- Sat., June 27, 10 a.m.-12 noon
- Wed., July 8, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
- Sat., July 25, 10 a.m.-12 noon
- Tue., Aug. 11, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
- Wed., Sept. 9, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Reservations are required and tours fill up quickly. Those interested are encouraged to call the port at (360) 693-3611 or email [email protected] far in advance of their selected tour date.
Government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license or passport, is required to access the port’s secured facilities. Visitors are asked to leave cameras at home; they are not allowed on marine terminals.
