Rep. John Ley is urging federal transportation officials to delay approval of the Interstate Bridge replacement project, arguing that the proposal has grown far beyond its original purpose and now carries a price tag estimated at more than $15 billion. In a letter to U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, Ley called for additional federal scrutiny, citing concerns about project costs, scope changes, congestion impacts, tolling, and the inclusion of light rail. Meanwhile, project leaders continue to pursue a Record of Decision that would allow the project to move into its next phase.
