Area residents and visitors turn out for the return of Camas Days
Camas Days made a return to the streets of Camas this weekend as area residents and others gathered for many events and activities under a weekend of bright summer weather.
Lifelong Camas resident Marquita Call served as Grand Marshall of the Camas Days parade and Molly Coston served as the event’s Royal Queen. The theme for this year’s Camas Days Hometown Festival was “Experience the Magic of Camas.”
On Saturday, Call led the main event of the celebration, the parade for Camas Days. The Hometown Festival officially was Friday and Saturday, but there were related events on Thursday and Sunday as well, including a Concert in the Park Thursday evening featuring blues music from Kevin Selfe and the Tornadoes.
Vendor and food booths opened Friday morning, offering six city blocks of vendors throughout downtown Camas. A used book sale was held Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the Camas Library.
Kids Street, including slides, obstacles courses, games, and more was located on Dallas and 4th and The Kids’ Parade took place on Friday afternoon.
The senior royalty luncheon to honor Molly Coston was held after Saturday’s main parade. Saturday afternoon also marked the return of the Bathtub Races. Saturday evening a Steak Feed was held at Grove Field.
On Sunday, the annual softball tournament was held, plus an open house at Grove Field.
