After a two-year hiatus, the Amboy Territorial Days Celebration made its triumphant return this weekend, attracting area residents and visitors to the North Clark County community.

Event returns to Amboy Territorial Park after a two-year hiatus
After a two-year hiatus, the Amboy Territorial Days Celebration made its triumphant return this weekend, attracting area residents and visitors to the North Clark County community.
The festival was held Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Amboy Territorial Park. It started in 1960 as a way to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Amboy Post Office. The post office in Amboy (established in 1886) predates Washington becoming a state in 1889. Community members gathered in 1960 and had such a great time, they decided to turn it into an annual tradition.
The only thing that could pause it was the pandemic.
The festival included bingo, a silent auction, and a beer garden on Friday, as well as the coronation of the queen. On Saturday, the parade began the day prior to the park opening for a full day and night’s worth of entertainment.
The grand marshal of this year’s parade was Clark County Fire District 10 for its history of service to the community. Fire District 10 had its first meeting on Dec. 28, 1960. Larry and Beth Goble were the Citizens of the Year for the event. They have lived in Amboy for more than 40 years, volunteering throughout the community.
