Firefighters from Clark County Fire District 6 responded Thursday (July 25) afternoon to the scene of a major natural gas leak on NE 99th Street, directly in front of Columbia River High School.
At least 10 households were evacuated and NE 99th Street was closed temporarily. Natural gas odor was reported as far as 11 blocks away.
Reportedly, the leak happened after a contractor working on a water line project accidentally punctured a major gas line. The call came in at 4:03 p.m. Clark County Fire District 6 sent four fire engines and a battalion chief.
No injuries were reported. Northeast 99th Street is a major arterial, serving the Lake Shore and Felida neighborhoods.
