International film festival actress Kelci Lauren will star in the Magenta Theater’s upcoming holiday performance of the play, ‘Parfumerie.” The role of Amalia Balash caps an awarding winning year for Lauren, whose short film “IFA” won numerous awards in the International Firereel Film Festival this past August in California, including Best Local Film.

Lauren wrote and produced the short film, which was selected from hundreds of submissions to be shown at the festival. Lauren also was nominated as Best Actress. And if rehearsing and performing in “Parfumerie” isn’t keeping her busy enough, Lauren is also collaborating on a feature film and has been asked to write a web series. Tickets are going fast for “Parfumerie.” Directed by Brenda McGinnis, the story follows the tangled tale of the Parfumerie employee George Horvath.  Just days before Christmas, George’s boss fires him after mistakenly suspecting him to be the lover of his unfaithful wife.  George’s own love life goes awry when he discovers the identity of the stranger he has fallen in love with through secret correspondence. For the employees of the Parfumerie, only the truth can lead to a happy resolution in this old-fashioned, romantic Christmas tale. “Parfumerie” has inspired several movies including, “You’ve Got Mail,” as well as the hit Broadway show, “She Loves Me.”

To celebrate the Magenta Theater’s holiday production, a vintage shop in downtown Vancouver, Most Everything, has dedicated their street level storefront window display to “Parfumerie.”  A vintage lifestyle boutique located at at 815 Washington St., Most Everything offers vintage clothing and accessories for women and men, mid-century furniture, original art, vinyl records and collectibles. “Perfumerie” shows at the Magenta Theater, 1108 Main St., in downtown Vancouver, Dec. 2 through Dec. 17, with 7:30 p.m. shows Dec. 2-3, Dec. 8-10 and Dec. 13-16, and 2 p.m. matinee shows on Dec. 10 and Dec. 17.
