High school football playoffs: Prairie, Hockinson and La Center all headed to the postseason as No. 1 seeds

The Prairie Falcons, Hockinson Hawks and La Center Wildcats each earned No. 1 playoff seeds from their respective leagues with victories Friday in the final week of the high school football regular season.

Prairie co-champs in 3A GSHL; Hockinson claims 2A GSHL title and La Center outlasts Castle Rock to claim 1A Trico League championship

Prairie earned a share of the Class 3A Greater St. Helens League football championship with a 42-14 victory over Evergreen Friday night. The Falcons finished the season with an 8-1 overall record and they were 3-1 in GSHL play. Prairie will head into the playoffs as the league’s No. 1 seed.

Kelso will be the 3A GSHL No. 2 seed and Evergreen will advance to the postseason as the league’s No. 3 seed. The Plainsmen finished the season with a 5-4 overall record, including 2-2 in GSHL action.

Class 2A

The two-time defending 2A state-champion Hockinson Hawks wrapped up the regular season with a lopsided win over Ridgefield Friday night. The Hawks finished the season with an 8-1 overall record and a perfect 6-0 mark in the 2A GSHL.

For the past three seasons, the numbers on the scoreboard have predominantly been considerably in Hockinson’s favor and this season was no different. Hockinson will advance to the postseason as the league’s No. 1 seed. Ridgefield (5-4, 4-2) will advance to the postseason as the league’s No. 2 seed.

Class 1A

Once again, the La Center Wildcats sit alone atop the Trico League.

La Center earned the league championship with a wild, 42-39 victory at Castle Rock Friday night. The Wildcats finished 8-0 on the season and 4-0 in Trico League action. They will be the league’s No. 1 seed heading into the postseason.

King’s Way Christian will advance to the postseason as the Trico League’s No. 3 seed.
