The pedestrian was transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center with serious injuries
On Friday (July 21) at about 12:58 a.m. a report was made to 9-1-1 of a pedestrian who was involved in a collision with a vehicle on NE 78th Street near the intersection with NE St. Johns Rd..
First responders with the city of Vancouver Fire Department, American Medical Response, and the Clark County Sheriff's Office arrived to find an injured pedestrian and the driver of the vehicle who initially fled but had returned to the scene.
The pedestrian was transported to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center with serious injuries.
Detectives with the Clark County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit and the Battle Ground Police Department responded to the scene and are conducting an investigation. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in this incident. This case is active pending further investigation by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit.
The eastbound lanes of NE 78th Street, just east of the intersection with St. Johns Rd. were closed for several hours while detectives conducted their investigation.
