Last year’s state soccer champions have reached the final four
The champs are back, and so, too, are the champs.Two defending state champions from Clark County are still defending those championships in girls soccer.Camas is returning to the Class 4A state final four. The Papermakers beat Skyline 4-1 on Saturday night at Doc Harris Stadium. Next for the Papermakers is a semifinal matchup vs. Issaquah at 8 p.m. Friday at Sparks Stadium in Puyallup. The winner will play for the state championship at 4 p.m. Saturday.Meanwhile, the Class 2A final four also will feature last year’s champion. Columbia River survived Bellingham in penalty kicks in the quarterfinals Saturday at Kiggins Bowl.The Chieftains will take on White River in an 8 p.m. semifinal match at Shoreline Stadium on Friday. The winner will play for the 2A title Saturday at 4 p.m. Saturday.A year ago, both Camas and Columbia River won state championships just minutes apart from one another. They will have a chance to do it again in 2017.Meanwhile, two other Clark County teams saw their seasons come to an end after trips to the quarterfinals. Prairie fell in the 3A bracket, losing to Stadium 4-0. King’s Way Christian lost 3-0 to Seattle Academy in the 1A tournament.
