VANCOUVER — At approximately 7:32 p.m. Sunday (Sept. 6), Vancouver Fire Department crews were dispatched to a report of a house fire at 15800 NE 35th Street in Vancouver, Washington.
Vancouver Fire responded with 9 apparatus and 25 firefighters. Upon arrival, firefighters found a well-involved fire in a two-story residence, with flames billowing from both the front and back of the home.
Firefighters immediately began an aggressive fire attack while simultaneously searching the residence for potential occupants. Crews were able to bring the fire under control in less than 35 minutes.
Firefighters searched the home and no one was found inside. No injuries were reported.
Vancouver Fire Department Fire Marshals are on scene conducting an investigation to determine the origin and cause of the fire.
Fire safety reminder
A working smoke alarm can provide the early warning needed to escape a house fire safely. Vancouver Fire Department reminds residents to:
- Make sure smoke alarms are installed on every level of your home, inside bedrooms, and outside sleeping areas.
- Test smoke alarms regularly and replace batteries when needed.
- Create and practice a home fire escape plan with everyone in your household. Know two ways out of every room when possible.
- Get outside and stay outside if a fire occurs. Never go back inside a burning home.
- Call 9-1-1 immediately from a safe location if you discover a fire.
