King’s Way Christian names new coaches

King’s Way Christian High School will have a girls’ fastpitch softball program for the first time this spring. The Knights will also have new head coaches for their baseball and boys soccer programs.

School will add softball program to its athletics program

VANCOUVER — King’s Way Christian High School will have a girls’ fastpitch softball program for the first time this spring. The Knights will also have new head coaches for their baseball and boys soccer programs. Traci Nelson and Shawna Danberg have been selected to guide the softball program. Nelson was born and raised in Vancouver and played fastpitch softball at Fort Vancouver High School before going on to play collegiately at Pacific University. She finished her career at Portland State University as a pitcher. Recently, Nelson was the coach of the NW Raptors youth team. Danberg played in the Vancouver Girls Softball Association and also at Mountain View High School. She also played collegiately at Clackamas Community College, helping that program claim two NWAACC championships. “Traci and Shawna will provide an enjoyment of the game with patient instruction on skills and competition,’’ stated a release from the King’s Way Christian School athletics department. “The two of them will complement each other by integrating Christ in sports, growth in character and developing the skills of competitive softball.’’

Boys soccer: Drew Klinsing

Drew Klinsing will take over as head coach of the King’s Way boys soccer program. Klinsing has been a staff member at the school for three years teaching Bible and serving as the school’s  Spiritual Development director. He also is currently the varsity girls soccer assistant coach and has been the assistant varsity boys soccer coach for the past three years. Prior to his tenure at  King’s Way, Klinsing coached varsity soccer for four years in Idaho. “Drew provides an energy in his commitment to Christ and his approach to coaching,’’ stated a news release from King’s Way athletics. “He is deeply embedded in the King’s Way community and is excited about the tremendous interest in boys soccer from the elementary age through high school.  He appreciates the opportunity to build a program which includes discipleship formation, strength and conditioning, and competitive soccer.’’

Varsity baseball: Todd Pisarczyk

Todd Pisarczyk was named the new head coach of the King’s Way Christian School baseball program. Pisarczyk is a graduate of Prairie High School. He also played golf at Western Washington University and then earned his Business degree from Washington State University. He is the owner and founder of Sustainable Wealth Management. “Todd is enthusiastic about youth sports and has over ten years experience coaching various ages in several athletic programs,’’ stated a news release from King’s Way athletics. “He is most passionate, however, about coaching baseball.  Since 2014, Todd has run and managed Hit Squad, a local club baseball team comprised of high level local players from all around Clark County. He is also a manager for the Vancouver Cardinals. “Todd’s coaching philosophy has always been centered around development of players through collaborating with high quality coaches and building teams with great chemistry and character.  He is excited to a part of an organization like King’s Way where a Christ-centered focus will be the foundation for a competitive baseball program. With his new responsibility, Pisarczyk will step down as a board member of King’s Way Christian to put full focus on the baseball ministry. King’s Way’s Athletic Director Ted Buck said, “Todd not only provides a love for the game and the managerial skills within the baseball diamond to bring the best out of our players, he shares a genuine devotion to Christ in life and athletics.
