Clark County, you’ve waited 354 days. You can wait one more day.
Then, it will be time to get your cowboy boots on and find your cowboy hat.
(Or, just shorts and a T-shirt will do, too. Really, whatever makes you comfortable.)
Just make it fun.
It will go with what’s happening at the Clark County Fair.
The 2026 edition of Summer’s Best Party officially opens at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 7.
(And no, once again there is no pancake breakfast. It has been gone for a few years now, but some people still insist on getting to the fairgrounds really early, in hopes of a free breakfast.)
The carnival, with the thrill rides and the tamer riders, too, opens at noon.
Vendors. Artists. Creators. They’ll be there. For 10 days, as well.
And the animals. Oh yes, all the animals. Including Curly the Camel.
And on opening day, there will be a parade down the Midway at 2 p.m., showcasing some of the best features of the parade. Cars. Horses. Magicians. And more.
Headlining opening night will be the start of the concert series.
“They call it a problem. I call it a solution.”
That’s quite a line from the world-famous song “Drinkin Problem” from Midland.
“These done-me-wrong songs hit me so right.”
Another great line. That’s from “Burn Out.”
Gotta believe Midland, which hit the big time last decade on the country charts, will be singing those top hits. The concert starts at 7 p.m.
Also on Friday night, there will be The Celebration of Horses, a one-of-a-kind equestrian showcase at the Dr. Jack Giesy Arena. That starts at 7 p.m., as well.
