Firefighters from three agencies fight house fire in Vancouver

Four people and two dogs were displaced by the fire

Firefighters from Clark County Fire District 6 assisted Vancouver Fire Department units in battling a stubborn house fire in the Lincoln neighborhood. 

The fire was called in shortly after 7 a.m. Monday (Sept. 9) in the 5000 block of NW 8^th Avenue. Reports indicate that a Vancouver Police officer assisted the residents and their two dogs to escape to the backyard of the house, where they were temporarily stranded due to the heat of the blaze.  

Neighbors say there were explosions from what they thought sounded like fireworks coming from the blaze. A Vancouver squad got there first, followed by Fire District 6 Engine 61 and 64.  Ultimately firefighters from as far away as Clark Cowlitz Fire Rescue were called in to help quench the flames. 

In all the fire was battled by:

• 2 battalion chiefs
• 5 engines
• 2 fire trucks
• 1 squad
• 1 training captain
• Fire Marshal’s Office

There were no seriously injured, although four people and two dogs were displaced by the fire. The American Red Cross was called to assist in finding them temporary lodging.  As of 10:30 a.m., a number of firefighters were still mopping up, and the Vancouver Fire Marshal had begun assessing the cause of the fire.
