BRUSH PRAIRIE — Clark County Fire District 3 is inviting community members to attend a free public presentation focused on wildfire preparedness, local wildfire risk, and steps residents can take now to protect their homes, families, and neighborhoods.
The event will take place Monday, June 15 at 6 p.m. at the Battle Ground Event Center (Lewis River Hall), located at 912 E. Main St.
As wildfire conditions continue to intensify across the Pacific Northwest, Fire District 3 says preparedness and community awareness are becoming increasingly important throughout east Clark County.
“Wildfire is no longer something that only happens somewhere else,” said Fire Chief Chris Drone. “Our area has seen firsthand how quickly fire can threaten homes and communities. Preparedness starts long before smoke is in the air, and every household should understand the risks and have a plan.”
The presentation will cover wildfire risk within the District, historical and recent fires that have impacted the region, and the realities of living in the Wildland Urban Interface in east Clark County. The event will also highlight the steps Fire District 3 is taking to help protect the community, along with practical actions for residents to improve wildfire preparedness at home.
District officials say the event is intended to provide practical, locally relevant information in a community setting where residents can ask questions and learn directly from fire service personnel.
The District also plans to continue sharing wildfire preparedness information and safety tips throughout the summer on social media and through community outreach efforts.
Clark County Fire District 3 provides fire and life safety services to over 49,000 people in east Clark County, including the City of Battle Ground. Full-time, part-time, and volunteer firefighters respond to an average of 5,000 emergency calls a year – 72% of which are EMS-related. More information is available at www.fire3.org.
