November marks a big month for American Legion Smith-Reynolds Post 14 in Vancouver.

A Holiday Bazaar will be held this week, followed by a Veterans Day breakfast on Nov. 11, and later there will be a children’s party.

Here are the details:

Bazaar

The American Legion Family will host a Holiday Bazaar from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6 at Post 14, located at 4607 NE St. James Road in Vancouver.

The event will include plenty of gift ideas. Auxiliary members will also be holding their annual bake sale during those hours.

“This event is just one of the ways that we’re able to raise funds to support the activities of the American Legion Family,” said Audrey Hoff, president of Auxiliary Unit 14.

Veterans Day Breakfast

The American Legion Smith-Reynolds Post 14, along with the Sons of the American Legion, the American Legion Auxiliary, and Columbia Bank, will host a Veterans Day Breakfast from 7 a.m. until 9:30 a.m., giving guests time to make it to Vancouver’s historic Veterans Day Parade.

“The men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces make or have made sacrifices every day to ensure that Americans continue to enjoy the freedoms that we hold so dear,” said Ron Fryer, commander of Post 14. “This event is just one of the ways that we’re able to honor veterans, military, and their families.”

The breakfast is free for veterans and military service members with proof of status. Non-veterans are welcome for a $5 fee. On the menu: Pancakes, scrambled eggs, coffee, and juice.

The breakfast is at Post 14, 4607 NE St. James Road in Vancouver. It ends at 9:30 a.m., giving plenty of time to make it to the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site for the parade.

Children’s Christmas Party

A Christmas Party for Children will be held Nov. 14 at American Legion Post 14, and organizers are asking for suggested donations to help support local veterans.

The party will run from 2 to 4:30 p.m., and it is designed for children, parents, and grandparents. There will be a cake walk, cookie decorating, a duck pond with prizes, and plenty of balloons. Children will also be encouraged to make Christmas cards for veterans. Santa Claus will be there. And for the competitors, Pinewood Derby Racing is on the schedule.

Suggested donations are $20 for adults and $5 for children.
