Seattle won Game 1, but series shifts to Portland for Game 2
The Vancouver Volcanoes are hoping the home crowd can give them a lift in The Basketball League playoffs this weekend, and, by the way, the home gym has changed for the playoffs.
Vancouver earned the top seed for the Pacific Northwest Division playoffs but lost the first game of a three-game series against the Seattle Superhawks on Thursday.
TBL protocol has the top seed playing home games in Games 2 and 3 of a best-of-three, so Thursday’s game was in Seattle.
Now, the Volcanoes will return home Saturday in a must-win game. If the Volcanoes prevail Saturday, they will play again Sunday for the division crown.
An important update: The Volcanoes are playing their home games Saturday in Portland, not in Clark County. The team announced late Friday that Game 2 will be played at 14655 SW 72nd Ave in Portland at a place called The Practice Facility. Tip-off is 7 p.m.
If the Volcanoes win Saturday, Game 3 is tentatively scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday at Evergreen High School. The team had been using Hudson’s Bay as its home base for most of the season.
Seattle’s Nahziah Carter scored 43 points Thursday night to lead the Superhawks to a 140-120 victory over Vancouver.
The Volcanoes, who went 16-4 in the regular season, won three of four games against Seattle this season. Now they need to win the next two in order to advance.
Tyshon Pickett led the Volcanoes with 27 points on Thursday.
The Volcanoes are looking for their first playoff win since joining The Basketball League.
