Sawyer Racanelli taking advantage of new rules to allow college athletes to earn money on Name, Image, or Likeness
A former Hockinson Hawk who now plays football for the University of Washington has signed a deal with Vofspace, to give fans or aspiring athletes a chance to “meet” with the athlete online.
Sawyer Racanelli is taking advantage of the new rules in college athletics allowing athletes to earn money on Name, Image, or Likeness, commonly known as NIL deals.
Racanelli confirmed with Clark County Today that he is part of the Vofspace team.
“Vofspace is an easy-to-use-app that makes virtual meetings easy and efficient,” Racanelli said via press release from the company. “I have had nothing but positive experiences when meeting with people on Vofspace.”
Vofspace’s name comes from virtual office space.
“The NIL rule has given college players an opportunity to monetize the brand they’ve developed since high school,” said Joshua Woods, the CEO of Vofspace. “Talking with fans or helping teach budding athletes new techniques can provide helpful revenue for these young adults.”
Racanelli was on his way to becoming the state’s career leader in receiving yards before a knee injury forced him to miss his senior year of high school. Racanelli won two state championships with the Hawks. A 2020 high school graduate, he signed with the University of Washington.
Still considered a freshman, he has played special teams in all but one game so far this season for the Huskies.
Vofspace notes that stars, and “not-quite-yet stars” are using the company to reach their fans. The athletes charge a per-hour rate and keep 90 percent of those fees, Vofspace says.
Beyond sports, Vofspace also is looking to bring together consumers and experts in finance, fashion, real estate, religion, and more.
