The high scoring basketball star, who is about to enter her senior year at Union High School, posted a video on Thursday announcing her intention to sign with the University of Oregon

Brooklynn Haywood, one of the most prolific scorers in Washington state high school girls basketball history, announced Thursday that she will be attending the University of Oregon.
She had some fun in the announcement, sharing a video first on Instagram.
“After long talks with my family, weighing every option, I’ve made my decision,” she says while looking into the camera, wearing a generic black shirt.
“I’m committing to …” and after a quick pause, she puts her hand over the camera, then lifts her hand as she reveals … “to the University of Oregon” while wearing an Oregon shirt.
Then there are shots of her and her family from their visit to Eugene, mixed in with video clips of former Oregon star and WNBA current standout Sabrina Ionescu.
Haywood, who is entering her senior year at Union High School, can sign with Oregon as early as November.
“I’m super happy for her that all of her hard work has paid off and even more happy that she has found a place to play that is two hours away,” Union coach Gary Mills said. “Those of us who love her can go watch her play quite often. I’m excited for that.”
Haywood averaged better than 31 points per game her junior year at Union. The Titans made it to the final 12 in the Tacoma Dome.
With an influx of new talent as well as the number of returning standouts, the Titans have higher expectations for the 2025-26 campaign. The team went 22-1 in summer ball.
Haywood also excelled in club ball all summer, traveling to compete against, and with, some of the best players in the nation.
Depending on which recruiting service, Haywood is one of the top 25, 30 recruits in the nation. A guard, Haywood can score from long range with her shooting touch and also has the power to finish on drives in the middle of traffic.
She has had a 50-point game — almost unheard of at the high school level — on her resume at Union.
“The great thing about her is she continues to get better,” Mills said. “She adds new tricks to the bag every couple of months. She continues to evolve.”
Haywood has dozens of Division I offers from all over the country. Last month, she announced on social media her final three: Oregon, Utah, and Baylor.
On Wednesday, she told her followers that she would become a Duck.
“I think she’s going to have a great career,” Mills said.
