VANCOUVER – Southwest Washington Contractors Association announced last week that it has received a refund check for $1.486 million for its Retrospective Rating (Retro) Program. A large portion of the refund will be returned to its members who participate in its Retro Program through the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries.
SWCA’s Retro program has typically experienced very high refund percentages – this year the percentage will be 55 percent, one of the highest around in comparison to other member associations that run these programs.
“We are proud of our members for consistently displaying these high standards for safety – both for their projects and for their employees,” said SWCA Executive Director Nelson Holmberg, “We are looking forward to distributing these funds back to our members in the coming weeks”.
The Retro program at SWCA is a member-driven program where construction companies participate in safety and health training throughout the year. Members must demonstrate that they are in good standing with L&I and that they comply with other plan parameters. In order to be eligible to join, a member must show that they operate safe projects and minimize their L&I claims. Once the Retro year ends, members are eligible for a portion of the L&I premiums back if they experience low claim costs.
The program is administered for SWCA by Integrated Claims Management of Olympia.

SWCA members who are interested in taking part in the Retro Program should contact Janee Cantu ([email protected]). The deadline for new enrollment for the full year is July 1, 2020. Members may also join quarterly for the first three quarters of the year.
