This will be the ninth Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning, an event that raises money for the Ridgefield Public Schools Foundation
Thanksgiving is a little more than a month from now, so it probably is about that time to get prepared to run or walk five kilometers in Ridgefield.
The ninth annual Turkey Trot 5K Fun Run and Walk is Thanksgiving morning, with proceeds going to the Ridgefield Public Schools Foundation.
Last year’s event raised more than $35,000, with more than 1,000 participants and 100 volunteers.
Proceeds go to support the Ridgefield Family Resource Center and the Foundation. The Foundation raises funds to provide student scholarships and educator grants.
This year’s Turkey Trot, presented by Cowlitz Indian Tribe, Columbia Credit Union, and Ridgefield Dental Care, starts with a Drumstick Dash, a short run for children 5 and under, at 8:45 a.m. The main event, a 5K run/walk begins at 9 a.m. with the start and finish line at Union Ridge Elementary Schools in downtown Ridgefield.
The Turkey Trot is a fun run/walk without a formal timer. Participants are encouraged to enjoy the spirit of the event, work up an appetite for their Thanksgiving feast, while helping raise funds for the foundation.
Registration ranges from $15 to $40 and comes with a T-shirt if registered prior to Nov. 13.
