The walking event, set for May 6, is a fundraiser for Mother Against Drunk Driving
Walk Like MADD is holding an event in Clark County in May, and those who sign up for the fundraising walk by April 20 will receive a discount on the registration fee.
The 2023 Walk Like MADD Washington State Patrol Troopers Association — District Five, is holding its event at 11 a.m. May 6 at Hockinson Meadows Park, 10910 NE 172nd Ave., Vancouver.
Those who register by April 20 will also be guaranteed a T-shirt.
This is a signature fundraiser for Mothers Against Drunk Driving. The walk is designed to raise awareness of drunk driving as well as raise funds to help eliminate drunk and drugged driving.
The motto and the goal: No More Victims.
There will be live music and other entertainment while folks rally for the cause during a walk in the park.
Last year, according to the Walk Like MADD website, tens of thousands of people in more than 90 cities across the country participated. In total, the events raised more than $3 million
“With every step taken and each dollar raised, walkers are supporting MADD’s lifesaving mission to keep our families and communities safe,” the site said.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving was founded in 1980.
Walk Like MADD’s origins came from the family of a victim of a drunk driver. Dr. Robert Geronumus was killed in January 2009. His family started walking in his honor, and Walk Like MADD has been growing through the years.
