VANCOUVER — Vancouver Fire Department firefighters responded Saturday afternoon (Aug.29) to a residential structure fire in the area of NE 75th Street and NE 124th Avenue. Multiple callers to 9-1-1 reported seeing smoke and flames coming from the rear of the home.
When the first Vancouver Fire engine arrived, crews found an active fire in one of the bedrooms on the backside of the home. Firefighters immediately deployed hose lines and began an offensive fire attack. Additional crews entered the home to search for occupants and assist with fire control. The house was vacant during the time of the fire.
Through a quick and coordinated response, firefighters knocked down the main body of the fire within minutes of arriving and completed searches of the residence. No injuries were reported.
The total estimated cost of the damage is not yet known. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
