Magenta Theater in Vancouver is proud to present its upcoming production, “Don’t Dress for Dinner,” a comedy that dares to ask “What could go wrong?”
Opening night is July 11 and performances run Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through July 27.
Don’t Dress for Dinner, written by Marc Camoletti and Robin Hawdon, is the sequel to Camoletti’s breakout hit “Boeing, Boeing.”
In this play, Bernard, the French playboy, and his best friend Robert return in this laugh-out-loud farce.
Bernard is planning a romantic weekend with his chic Parisian mistress in his charming converted French farmhouse whilst his wife, Jacquieline, is out of town. He has also invited his friend Robert to provide an alibi. What could possibly go wrong?
Well, it turns out, a lot can go wrong, with maybe more secret lovers, and Jacqueline might not be away at all, and everybody’s alibi gets confused with everyone else’s alibi.
An evening of hilarious confusion ensues as Bernard and Robert improvise at breakneck speed.
This comedy was a smash hit in Paris, where it played for more than two years, and six years in London. It has been playing in American theaters for years, as well.
This month, Magenta Theater is producing the play, directed by Michael Reid.
The production features a cast of local community performers, including Michael Briggs as Bernard, Katie Norcross as Jacqueline, and Matthew Thogerson as Robert.
Thursday, Friday, and Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m. Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m.
