Goonies and Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back to show
On the heels of Gov. Jay Inslee’s modified rules for movie theaters, the Liberty Theatre in Camas will reopen on Friday after being shut down for nearly seven months due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The theatre will open Friday at 3 p.m. The first show will be the 1985 classic The Goonies. The movie was filmed in Astoria, Oregon and celebrates its 35th anniversary this year. Showtime on Friday is 4 p.m..
The second feature showing will be Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, which has been re-released in celebration of its 40th anniversary. The Friday show time will be 7:15 p.m..
The weekends showings are as follows:
• The Goonies (PG) Friday, 4 p.m.; Saturday 6:30 p.m., Sunday 1 p.m.
• Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (PG) Friday 7:15 p.m., Saturday 3 p.m.; Sunday 4:15 p.m.
The Liberty is limited to 75 guests per showing. Tickets are available online at camasliberty.com. Moviegoers are encouraged to buy tickets in advance and reserve their seats. This will speed up the box office line.
For social distance purposes, every other row will be blocked off. When a party selects their seats, a 3-seat buffer will be placed so those seats will be unoccupied for that showing.
For the present, the Liberty will operate a limited schedule Wednesday through Sunday and be closed Monday and Tuesday.
Liberty Theatre staff asks for patrons’ patience as they work through these new procedures. It is important to purchase tickets online, check in at the front box office and place snack bar orders, which will be delivered into the theatre for you. Late arrivals will not be seated once the lights go down.
