I live in the Lakeshore area of west Hazel Dell. Every time I go out, almost daily, I have construction sites to avoid unless I like to wait. Except for utility services, all of these sites are related to Vine Bus stations – HWY99, NE 78th St., Mill Plain, etc.
The Vine buses, did the C-TRAN Board actually vote this in? This is a TON of money. Our taxes pay for this. I know I am a squeaky wheel on this topic.
If Vine buses had enough ridership to justify this cost, well ok, but I do not see this. We have the regular size C-TRAN buses that are almost too big, with very few riders any time, even during commute. So again, where did the idea of expansion to the Vine buses come from? Who presented enough use to justify this terribly expensive transportation system? And now the infrastructure (roads) have to be torn up to comply with ADA specifications.
Most drivers pay no attention and maybe most people do not even look at what our fuel and transportation taxes are going for. I know my Clark County District Councilor Michelle Belkot opposed this, and I voiced my opinion to her and she did properly represent me on this and many other issues. I hope she is re-elected in November.
I hope it's not too late to "modify" expenditures through the C-TRAN Board and get our transportation system back down to reasonable size vehicles.
