We have lived in Camas for almost 30 years. We participate in the city meetings often. We appreciate the fact that even though all you can do is voice opinions or concerns at the meeting, you do not get answers in return during the meeting. We feel that we are listened to at the meetings. Leslie Lewallen truly listens.
We have owned our home for over 23 years. Our home is a sprawling, two bedroom one bath home with a total of 802 square feet. We receive the same respect from her as if we had a 2,400-square-foot or larger home. We purchased our home factoring in what we felt comfortable paying for. With being able to afford it even if we were a single income home. I was in school when my husband bought the house. We are able to afford our home along with the taxes comfortably, many cannot.
That being said, we do not want to pay taxes that are not necessary to pay. Responsible spending of our taxes is what we expect. That is not always done. We appreciate that Leslie often asks for clarification on many issues. She does not have an obligation to the city as an employee or as an employee of a company that has contracts with the city. Leslie has a dedication for all citizens of the city of Camas.
