Area resident Jeanie Warner offers her support for Justin Forsman and Derek Thompson in Tuesday’s general election

I am writing to encourage anyone who has not yet voted, to get out there and do it. Some may think their vote won’t matter, but here locally, it certainly does.
I feel we need a change of leadership in Vancouver’s city hall. New council members like Derek Thompson that are genuine and actually care about the opinions and concerns of his fellow citizens.
This is also the belief held by Justin Forsman, who tossed his hat in the race for mayor when no one else has had the courage. The Columbian dismissed him as being “not a viable candidate” which is an insult to another human and community member.
While we may not agree on every issue, I feel that Justin has the best interests of all of the citizens of this city in his focus. This is not about sides, this is about issues that matter to people. He is concerned about the things that we have to deal with in our everyday lives. Frustrating, unnecessary road diets and lane reductions that are being forced upon us. The struggles we are facing with higher property and sales taxes and fees that city hall just keep adding to our shoulders to make up for their 43 million dollar budget deficit. A homeless crisis that continues to grow.
We have a mayor that has already been in office for two terms. Are we better off than we were 8 years ago? What progress is there to show?
It’s time for a change, time for someone who will listen to everyone’s concerns and Justin Forsman is willing to listen to us.
