Brad Benton says his non-partisan, common sense approach is about putting the people first

Today, I am announcing my candidacy for the Clark County Council because District 5 deserves leadership that puts the people first. Clark County continues to grow, and with that growth comes challenges — rising costs, infrastructure improvements, and concerns about safety. I’m running to ensure our county government delivers practical, responsible solutions that keep our community strong.
Affordability is one of my top priorities. The tax burden for families in Clark County is out of control. As your councilor, I will oppose tax increases that make it harder for families to stay in their homes and for small businesses to thrive. I will push for responsible budgeting that prioritizes essential services and eliminates unnecessary spending that drives up the cost of living.
Transportation is another critical issue. Clark County needs infrastructure that keeps pace with our community, not an outdated Light Rail system that sees decreased ridership year over year. I will never support the use of our tax dollars to prop up Portland’s failing transportation system. I will advocate for practical, cost effective transportation solutions that reduce traffic, improve mobility, and support economic growth in our community.
Finally, public safety is a requirement of a healthy community. Our law enforcement officers and first responders deserve the resources and support necessary to keep our neighborhoods safe. I am proud to say that as a candidate, I have always been endorsed by our Law Enforcement.
As a current Clark County Charter Review Commissioner, I have been actively working on amendments that address these priorities. As a County Councilor I will further my commitment to the people of Clark County to deliver solutions to these issues we all face. I am dedicated to fighting for the people of Clark County.
Clark County has always been a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family. With the right leadership, we can ensure it remains that way. I aim to bring my experienced leadership to the County Council so that I can continue to serve my community. My non-partisan, common sense approach is about putting the people first. Together, we can build a safer, more affordable, and more prosperous future for all who call Clark County home.
