A fast-paced and engaging adaptation of one of the most popular novels of all time is coming to a stage in Battle Ground, courtesy Journey Theater.
All of the wit and romance of Jane Austen’s classic 1813 novel “Pride & Prejudice” come to life, with five performances at Manor Evangelical Church, with opening night set for Friday, May 8.
Finding a husband is hardly Elizabeth Bennet’s most urgent priority. But with four sisters, an overzealous match-making mother, and a string of unsuitable suitors, it is difficult to escape the subject.
When the independent-minded Elizabeth meets the handsome but enigmatic Mr. Darcy, she is determined not to let her feelings triumph over her own good sense — but the truth turns out to be slipperier than it seems. In a society where subtle snubs and deceit proliferate, is it possible for Elizabeth and Darcy to look beyond his pride and her prejudice, and to make the best match of all?

The first show is 7 p.m. May 8, followed by a 1 p.m. matinee on Saturday, May 9. The play returns the following week with a 7 p.m. performance on Friday, May 15. Then two shows on Saturday, May 16 — at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.
