Family has set up a GoFundMe account for Jessica White, who was injured Saturday in a crash in east Vancouver
Family members of a victim of a car crash last weekend have set up a GoFundMe account in hopes of raising money for their loved one who is recovering in the hospital.
Jessica White was driving her car on 162nd Ave. in east Vancouver on Saturday when another car lost control and crashed into White’s Subaru Forester.
White suffered a broken spine and broken legs. She will be bedridden for months as she recovers. This is particularly devastating because White is the primary caregiver for her elderly mother who is also battling health issues.
“While car insurance is most likely going to cover most of the medical expenses, she is also without medical insurance, and we are extremely worried about her living situation at her apartment,” Dean Baker, Jessica’s brother, wrote on the GoFundMe account.
Without being able to work, she is left with zero income, Dean Baker added.
While the GoFundMe account said White was injured due to the recklessness of two other drivers who were racing, Vancouver Police officials have only reported that another driver lost control of his car due to excessive speed. The investigation was still ongoing at last report.
According to the GoFundMe account, the car that lost control hit a median, went airborne, and landed on Jessica’s car.
The account is asking for donations for Jessica to help pay her rent, as well as unforeseen expenses. The account is asking for $12,000. As of Wednesday, April 23 at 8 p.m., more than $8,000 had been raised.
