Working across painting, sculpture, and mixed media, the artists expand the gallery’s representation of contemporary Pacific Northwest and international voices
CAMAS — Gallery 408 recently announced that four accomplished artists — Amy Drews, Doug Kabel, Gesine Kratzner, and Levent Karayalım — joined the gallery March 1, 2026. Working across painting, sculpture, and mixed media, the artists expand the gallery’s representation of contemporary Pacific Northwest and international voices.
Portland abstract painter Amy Drews creates vibrant mixed-media compositions rooted in intuitive mark-making and layered color relationships. Her lively paintings balance structure and spontaneity, inviting emotional and visual discovery.
Camas landscape painter and mountaineer Doug Kabel brings expressive oil paintings shaped by decades of wilderness travel and climbing. His atmospheric mountain imagery reflects a deeply lived connection to the landscapes of the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
Portland sculptor and former animation director Gesine Kratzner is known for whimsical, character-driven clay figures that convey humor, tenderness, and narrative presence. Her sculptures carry the expressive storytelling sensibility of her animation background.
Internationally recognized painter Levent Karayalım presents atmospheric landscapes and cityscapes distinguished by gestural brushwork and luminous light. In recent work, he has expanded into sculptural surface constructions using layered strips of painted canvas arranged into dense, petal-like formations. Saturated in rich reds, these dimensional compositions radiate organic movement while blurring the boundary between painting and relief sculpture.
“We’re honored to welcome these four artists to Gallery 408,” said co-owner Kim Nickens. “Each brings a distinct voice and material approach, strengthening our commitment to presenting diverse, compelling contemporary art.”
Work by all four artists are already on view at Gallery 408, 408 NE 4th Ave, Camas. The gallery is open Wednesday–Sunday, 11 a.m.–5 p.m., and during Camas First Friday evenings.
