Ekklesia Theatre is proud to present Every Brilliant Thing by Duncan Macmillan with Jonny Donahoe, running Friday, May 8, May 15, and May 22 at two Vancouver locations: Coffee Church and Heritage Church.
In just more a year and a half since its first production, Ekklesia Theatre has quickly become a
growing presence in Southwest Washington’s arts community. With a mission to create meaningful, accessible theatre while giving back locally, the company has already produced
multiple shows and given back more than $20,000 to the local community through its
productions, artist support, and community partnerships.
With Every Brilliant Thing, Ekklesia Theatre continues its commitment to storytelling that
connects with audiences in a real and immediate way.
Every Brilliant Thing is a funny, heartfelt story about finding hope in the midst of life’s hardest
moments. Told with warmth, humor, and a high level of audience interaction, the play follows a
child who begins making a list of “every brilliant thing” worth living for after their mother struggles with depression. What starts as a simple list grows over the years into something much bigger.
This is not a typical sit-back-and-watch kind of show. Audience members are invited to take part
throughout the performance, often becoming part of the story in unexpected and memorable
ways. No one is forced on stage, but chances are you will play a role in bringing the story to life.
Most audience members end up participating in some way.
Along the way, the play balances laugh-out-loud moments with deeply moving ones, showing
how small joys and everyday experiences can help carry us through difficult seasons.
Every
Brilliant Thing has become an international sensation, and is currently making its Broadway
premiere at the Hudson Theatre starring Daniel Radcliffe. The show has been widely
praised for its honesty, humor, and ability to spark meaningful conversations about mental
health, resilience, and hope.
This intimate, solo production features Chris Murphy and is directed by Joyél Niño.
Ekklesia Theatre is proud to partner with Charis Counseling Associates, a local organization
dedicated to providing accessible, professional counseling services to individuals and families in
our community. Ekklesia will donate 50 percent of all ticket sales from this production to support Charis Counseling Associates, helping make counseling accessible to those who might otherwise be unable to afford it.
This partnership reflects Ekklesia Theatre’s mission to pair storytelling with service, connecting
each production with local organizations whose work strengthens and uplifts Clark County.
