VANCOUVER — Clark County Superior Court is pleased to introduce a new and improved juror experience for local citizens with the replacement of the current jury summonsing software. The county began using its current jury management software in the early 2000’s. After nearly 20 years of solid reliability with the current software, inefficiencies and outdated forms of communication have contributed to overall lower response and appearance rates.
Superior Court’s Jury Administration Office summons over 40,000 people in Clark County for the Superior and District Courts each year. The new software, Enterprise Juror Manager, delivers a more simplified experience for potential jurors. New postcard style summonses are expected to arrive in mailboxes the week of Feb. 24. Once a potential juror receives a summons, they will be provided information to respond to their summons online using a new juror portal. Individuals who are unable to respond online will be able to call Jury Administration for assistance. Court contact information is provided on the summons. A new online juror portal offers an improved user experience where potential jurors can answer their juror questionnaire, as well as make any requests to be deferred or excused.
Historically, most correspondence with potential jurors has been through the United States mail. The new juror experience shifts most communication to email and there is an option to enroll in text messaging notifications. Updates will also be available in the jury portal. Potential jurors will receive updates and notifications on their status the same day or next business day. What is not changing is the fact that potential jurors will always receive their official summons in the mail to initiate the process.
With an estimated 56.75% of Americans visiting websites from their mobile devices in 2024, the need for a mobile-optimized juror portal was well overdue. The gap between the number of mobile users vs. desktop users is expected to widen as more Americans are handling business and engaging in their daily lives through their smartphones and other mobile devices.
Jury Service Scam Warning: It is important to note that any person summoned for jury service in Clark County will receive a summons in the mail first. An example of the new summons is included below. Neither Clark County Courts nor local law enforcement will call individuals about missed jury duty and will not request payment in any form. Citizens are encouraged to be vigilant, so they do not fall victim to a scam. If you receive a suspicious call hang-up and contact Clark County Jury Administration immediately.
