Team state champions earn plenty of individual honors as well
The Camas Papermakers (girls soccer) and Columbia River Rapids (volleyball) won state championships, and then both squads took home plenty of individual honors when the all-state teams were announced.
Camas’ Maya Parman, a midfielder, is the Class 4A state co-Player of the Year in girls soccer, as voted on by the Washington State Soccer Coaches Association.
Columbia River’s Rylie Reeves, an outside hitter, is the Class 2A state volleyball Player of the Year, as voted by the Washington State Volleyball Coaches Association. The association also honored Columbia River coach Breanne Smedley as its coach of the year.
Several athletes from Clark County also made all-state teams.
Lily Loughney, also a midfielder, Jasmine Whittington, a defender, and Emerson Grafton, a forward, also made first-team, all-state for the Papermakers.
Goalkeeper Keely Wieczorek, who saved two shots during the penalty kick phase in the state championship match, also earned first-team, all-state.
Bella Burns, a forward, was voted to the second team.
Camas defeated Issaquah to win the state title.
In Class 2A soccer, Logann Duke, a defender from Columbia River, and Lauren Rabus, a midfielder from Washougal, were first-team selections. Ava Lapinskas, a defender, and Andie Buckley, a midfielder, both of Columbia River, earned second-team status.
In Class 1A, La Center midfielder Shaela Bradley was voted to the second team.
In volleyball, Lauren Dreves, an outside hitter, and Sydney Dreves, a middle blocker, joined Reeves on the first team from Columbia River. Caroline Hansen, a setter, was voted to the second team for the Rapids.
Ridgefield had three first-teamers, as well: Emily Vossenkuhl, a middle blocker; Morgan Harter, a setter, and Emily Paul, a libero.
Columbia River beat Ridgefield in the Class 2A state championship match, in an all-Clark County final.
In Class 4A, Kendall Mairs, a setter from Camas, was voted to the first team. Also from Camas, Emmy Hansen, outside hitter, and Chloe Asciutto, middle blocker, made the second team.
Tyra Schaub of Skyview, an outside hitter, was voted to the second team. Skyview’s Emily Wood, a defensive specialist, was honorable mention.
Setter Makena Gamby of Mountain View made honorable mention in Class 3A.
And in Class 1A, Ella Schoene, an outside hitter from La Center, was voted to the second team. Bridget Young, a middle blocker from King’s Way Christian, made the second team, as well. And Jordyn Gesser of Seton Catholic, a setter, was honorable mention.
