Eight athletes and three teams are among the huge class to be inducted into the Camas Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday
The Camas Athletic Hall of Fame is back, and it will be celebrating a huge class of honorees this week.
Eight athletes, three teams, two coaches, and a Camas family will be inducted in the 2025 Class, with recognition at Friday night’s football game and then a dinner ceremony on Saturday, Sept. 20. (Tickets for the dinner are sold out.)
The Hall of Fame, which started in 2008, is completely funded by the Camas Athletic Booster Club. The Hall stopped its celebrations during the pandemic. After the pandemic, the booster club wanted to raise enough money to ensure the hall’s success prior to holding more ceremonies.
This was the year to make a comeback.
Marcia Johnson, who works in the athletic office at Camas High School, continues in her role as the chair of the Hall of Fame. She has been the hall’s chair since its inception.
The 2025 honorees are:
- Courtney Wallenborn Yamamoto: Earned 12 varsity letters, shining in volleyball, basketball, and track and field. Was the 1999 Clark County volleyball player of the year.
- Trevor Jasinsky: A three-year varsity basketball player who averaged 18.1 points per game in his career, then starred at Western Washington University before playing professionally in Europe.
- Rick Copsey: Earned 11 varsity letters in football, wrestling, and baseball. Finished in the top four in state wrestling twice. Named athlete of the year by Camas Chamber of Commerce and the National Football Foundation
- Allison Buck Voigt: A four-year starter in volleyball and basketball, and a two-year starter for the softball team. Still holds school volleyball records for career kills, digs, and aces.
- Greg Beasley: Was the Seattle Times’ state player of the year in soccer and made the Seattle Times’ all-state team in football. Won a state title in soccer. Scored 80 goals for the Papermakers, and scored 27 touchdowns for the Papermakers.
- Nathan Beasley: State champion in soccer and helped Papermakers to first semifinals and finals appearances in football. Scored 51 goals, and he scored 71 touchdowns.
- Quinton Beasley: Scored 79 goals total for Camas soccer and holds the school record for most postseason goals. Also won a state title with the soccer team. Scored 27 touchdowns in football.
- Melissa Watkins: Won a state title in girls wrestling, and won a district title against boys wrestlers, before the sport had different classifications. A pioneer in girls wrestling, a sport that has boomed in popularity in the past two decades.
The Camas Athletic Hall of Fame is also honoring three teams:
- The 1962 boys basketball team that won a Trico League title, a district title, and finished eighth in state.
- The 2008 boys soccer team that finished 19-1-1 and won a state championship. This team was ranked No. 9 in the nation.
- The 2010 baseball team, the “Road Warriors” won a co-league title, then went on a magical run to the state championship game before finishing second.
The Hall also is inducting two coaches this year:
- Ted Buck: won a state championship as the head coach of the 2002 softball team. His softball squads also earned state trophies two other seasons. He also coached the volleyball team to a second-place finish at state in 2000. Buck also was the school’s athletic director for four years.
- Bob Foster: Coached for more than 30 years in Camas Public Schools, including longtime positions leading the girls and boys golf teams. Won a state team title with the girls program in 2024.
The Hall also will recognize a couple who epitomize the Camas community. The Hall of Honor goes to Peter and Eileen Loop. They have a combined 66 years of devotion to education, administration, and coaching. They rarely miss a Camas sporting event.
